Purchased the GH1 and 14-42mmm followed with a 100-300 Panasonic lens…for birding and close ups it’s a beautiful piece of work. Even the iAuto mode is excellent so you don’t have to be a Pro to shoot nice stills or video…
Excellent camera at a great price…does well in low light also…

|A best buy for a hybrid still/video camera,
I purchased the GH2 in December with Voigtländer Nokton 25mm f/0.95 lens and later purchased the GH1 with 14-42mm for $375 from Panasonic and that is the best deal I have made on a camera in a long time. It makes a great back-up body to my GH2 with the m4/3rds lenses I have and only the GH2 has a better EVF that makes shooting videos much better than my Pentax K-7 or any other DSLR for that matter.

I don’t need to write a review of this camera, there are plenty around.
However, wanted to leave feedback as a 4 star rating (as is at time of writing) is ludicrous. This is one of the best video producing cameras around (with the software hack, to which ALL GH1s are now susceptible). period. in any class.
Plenty of reviews out there from experts comparing the video quality to that of the Canon EOS 5D Mk II (the ‘gold standard’; body-only $2900 at time of writing)… some even conclude that it surpasses the Mk II for video.
At this price it is a no-brainer.
